The Institutional Ethics Committee (IEC) of Lady Brabourne College plays a vital role in ensuring that research and academic activities within the institution are conducted in accordance with the highest ethical standards. The IEC is entrusted with the responsibility of the initial review of research proposals prior to their implementation, and also to regularly monitor the approved research project, to ensure ethical compliance during the conduct of research. The insights and guidance of the Committee helps in maintaining the integrity and ethical standards of our research work.
The role of the Ethics Committee include:

- Providing recommendations to safeguard participants’ rights and well-being,

A separate laboratory has been set up under the DBT-BUILDER-Lady Brabourne College Interdisciplinary Life Science Programme for Advance Research and Education (Level 1) with Dr. Sanjukta Mondal (Parui), Associate Professor, Department of Zoology as the Principal Investigator and Dr. Suchita Sinha, Associate Professor, Department of Botany and Dr. Mahuya Mukhopadhyay, Associate Professor, Department of Microbiology as Co-Investigators. The objective of this central instrumentation facility was to procure and install high-end instruments which are not generally available to all departments and allow Master’s and Ph.D. students, along with faculty members, to use these instruments for their research projects and thesis work. This laboratory houses a range of equipment like Ultra-Centrifuge, UV-Spectrophotometer, Thermocycler (PCR), Gel-Doc, UV-Transilluminator, Cold-Centrifuge, Mini-Cold Laboratory, ELISA-Reader, Sonicator, high resolution Microscopes, etc.

The Department of Botany, Chemistry and Zoology set up a Common Computer Laboratory under the DST-FIST Program, equipped with computers, network connectivity, printers, scanners, and other peripherals for the purpose of instruction, research, and general access for the students and teachers. The purpose of this Central Facility is to conduct computer-related courses, training, and workshops and allowing students, faculty, or staff to use computers for various academic or professional tasks. 1. Helium Closed Cycle Refrigerator:
To study the temperature variation of electrical or dielectric properties of a material down up to 10 K, Helium Closed Cycle Refrigerator is an ideal instrument for prolonged cryogenic applications as the expense of liquid cryogens is rising at an astronomical rate. Even without the use of cryogens, we can use this system to attain temperature up to 10K in about 120 minutes and it can be operated up to room temperature 300K.
2. Lake Shore Temperature Controller:
A temperature controller which operates down to 300mk with appropriate NTC RTD sensors is an inevitable part for a Helium Closed Cycle Refrigerator. The controller automatically switches sensor inputs using zones to allow continuous measurement and control from 300mK to 1505K.
3. Low noise constant current source and Digital nanovoltmeter:
The Keithley Model 6221 AC and DC current source will be of great use in transport property measurement for our studied materials in association with Helium Closed Cycle Refrigerator. Our samples demand the use of a precision, low current source which will be power efficient also. But low current produces lower as well as harder to measure voltages across the materials. So combining the model 6221 with a model 2182A Nanovoltmeter makes it possible to address both of these challenges.
4. Turbo Pump:
In the Closed Cycle Refrigerator, the sample space should be maintained in appropriate vacuum so that temperature down to 4K can be smoothly achieved. For this reason a Turbomolecular pump is an essential accessory for the Closed Cycle Refrigerator.
5. A high-temperature programmable furnace which can go up to 1400oC
6. GW INSTEK make LCR – 8000G series LCR Meter:
It is integrated with the closed cycle refrigerator system for the measurement of the dielectric properties of the studied materials in the temperature range 10K-300K over a wide frequency range of 100 Hz to 20MHz.
7. Keithley 6517B Electrometer/High Resistance Meter:
It is a highly sensitive instrument specifically engineered for the precise measurement of high-resistance materials and extremely low current levels. It is capable of accurately measuring resistances up to 10¹⁸ ohms, making it particularly suitable for characterizing insulating and semi-insulating materials. In addition to its measurement capabilities, the 6517B can also source voltages up to ±200 V, which is essential for performing current-voltage (I-V) characterization of high-resistance samples.
