WELCOME TO LADY BRABOURNE COLLEGE – LIBRARY
Lady Brabourne College Library started it’s journey in a rented house in Park Circus, Kolkata, in the year 1939. The distinctive feature of our college lies in it’s cosmopolitan character, it’s multilingual and multi-religious entity. The library is located on the first floor of the main college building. This library has three wings:
- Main library
- Library Annex (in main college building)
- Electronic library (in Rama Choudhury building)
LIBRARY TIMING
Monday-Friday: 9:30 AM – 5:30 PM
Saturday: 10:00 AM – 3:30 PM
MANAGEMENT
Lady Brabourne College Library has a library committee with librarians and faculty members of different subjects for day to day management and smooth functioning of the library activities.
Library – Rules & Regulations
- Provide self library documents issue-return facility through Kiosk.
- Books are issued to students for a period of two weeks.
- Requisition slips are dropped in the demand box day before the issuing date to issue the book. Books are to be returned within 1.30 P.M. Books are to be issued within 3 P.M.
- Lending services are open to students from Monday to Friday. Only reading room service is available on Saturday.
- Each student is allowed to borrow two books at a time for home issue. No book will be issued on Saturday.
- Books may be reissued if there is no demand. An overdue charge of Rs.1.00 only per day is levied, if a book is kept beyond the due date.
- Any book lost, damaged or defaced must be replaced by the borrower.
- Books of special kind such as Reference Books (only one copy, Out of print, costly books, Dictionaries, Encyclopaedia’s etc.) marked as restricted / ‘Not for issue‘ and Bound volumes of Periodicals, Journals are not issued for home use.
- Reference Books are permitted for use within the library premises.
- Provide Book Return facility even on Sunday and Holidays through RFID based Book- drop system.

Library - Collections
The library started it’s collection with 700 number of books. Now, the library is enriched with a collection of more than 1,04,999 printed books and journals (approx) and various kinds of electronic documents. E-books and E-journals are also included in our collection purchased from different financial grants – Govt. grant, CPE, UGC and RUSA. The library possesses various old and rare documents. Library also procures magazines and newspapers – ‘Ananada Bazar Patrika’, ‘The Telegraph’ and ‘Sanmarg’ on a regular basis for their users.
